Pharma Intelligence is a part of the Business Intelligence Division of Informa and a leading provider of drug, device, company, clinical trial and market intelligence in the competitive pharma and medtech markets.
The purpose of the project was to create a new eCommerce platform for Pharma Intelligence. The client’s objective was to drive single-copy sales of long-form documents that have been traditionally presented via subscription-based products.
The eCommerce platform was implemented with WordPress WooCommerce. WooCommerce is a perfect fit for the requirements of this project: it is fast, it handles e-commerce well and it is easy to implement.
One feature required was to be able to search through the complete contents of all the documents that belong to the products. Such documents can be over 200 pages long and with over 600 products in the database this could be a challenge to implement in a way that the search would work quickly. We solved this by using a combination of custom fields and the SearchWP plugin, so that searching on the site is indexing all the content of all the documents and still gives accurate results very quickly.
The client had a strong wish to be able to manage all the products and orders easily. WordPress + WooCommerce is built with that in mind and requires no technical knowledge for the client to manage everything they wish.
The eCommerce was published as planned in October 2016 and the client was really happy with the look and functionalities of the site.
