Vindirekt: An e-commerce platform enabling growth

The collaboration between Vindirekt and Exove began when we were selected to redesign Vindirekt’s online store. The goal of the project was to create an e-commerce site with a top-class user experience that would also be easier to maintain than the previous WordPress solution. In addition, the new platform provides Vindirekt with the flexibility to expand into consumer e-commerce in the future, should legislation allow it.

A significant improvement in the shopping experience

The new solution brought significant added value to the management of products, orders, and payment methods. In addition, the platform was combined with an impressive user interface that achieved the objectives of communicating the brand and Vindirekt’s distinctive style.

A future-proof solution at the core

Vindirekt previously used a WordPress + WooCommerce–based solution, which works well for traditional e-commerce implementations. However, the earlier solution had required extensive customization, which led to shortcomings in both the user experience and the site’s performance.

A cloud-based, service-oriented e-commerce solution was implemented for Vindirekt on the Shopify platform. Shopify was chosen because a ready-made e-commerce platform was seen to provide significant added value in managing products, orders, and payment methods. The platform was combined with a visually striking user interface that achieved the goals for communicating the brand and Vindirekt’s distinctive style.

Order, customer, and inventory management were simplified by integrating the e-commerce solution with Vindirekt’s ERP system. This automated ERP integration makes it possible to maintain stock levels, manage customer data, and ensure that orders flow seamlessly into backend systems. The solution allows Vindirekt to focus on its core business without the need for manual maintenance of the online store.

Standing out through strong collaboration

The collaboration between Vindirekt and Exove went smoothly from the very beginning. Communication was efficient, and the minor challenges encountered during the project were mainly related to technical details. Exove’s ability to understand Vindirekt’s needs and business, and to provide a modern and distinctive solution for their new e-commerce platform, were key reasons why Exove was selected for the project.

Communication between Exove and Vindirekt has worked excellently from the start. Exove already stood out during the proposal stage with their solution and with the fact that they listened to us and our wishes right from the beginning.

The renewed vindirekt.fi site was officially launched in May 2024. The goal of the e-commerce renewal was to highlight Vindirekt’s expertise, offering, and brand, as well as to increase sales.

The end result was a beautiful online store that includes highly customized solutions designed to meet even demanding requirements. By placing content at the center and making it easy to discover, the site was designed as a place where customers are happy to return for inspiration and high-quality products. In addition, the new website now enables Vindirekt to manage customer interactions and communicate in ways that the previous website did not allow.

Above all, the purchasing experience improved significantly, as the speed of the online store and the functionality of search were greatly enhanced. The site features a fast user interface and an excellent search function (Algolia). These ensure a more intuitive shopping experience for customers and allow them, for example, to review their previous purchases and receive recommendations.

Despite a challenging schedule, the project resulted in a successful collaboration and an excellent final outcome. Exove delivered technical expertise at a high level while building on the designs created by Duran Creative.

Although the planned budget was exceeded, Exove managed to turn the situation into a positive one. What was particularly positive was that when this was noticed, Exove approached us proactively. It was great to see that in a partnership—especially when something goes wrong—there was an automatic willingness to meet us halfway before we had even discussed the issue.
