The second generation Jaiku Dashboard Widget is now available for downloading on our Jaiku Widget page.
The widget is now able to read the latest Jaikus from you and your contacts. Posts can have icons, too. And the widget can be collapsed into posting only mode to save precious screen space in smaller displays.
Please give it a spin. Remember to provide feedback here in the blog and write bug reports — should they be any — to widgetbugs@exove.com.

I have just installed the widget on my MacBook Pro and it works as a charm. Great job, and thank you.
I downloaded the latest Jaiku widget to my iMac (OSX 10.4.10) but couldn’t post. It prompts a message to “Check your username and key”. However I could view “Your Jaikus” past postings. My Jaiku url is yuegotit.jaiku.com. My username is “yuegotit” and I suppose the key is referring to my password. Or is there a different “key”?

you need to use your Jaiku API key, not your password.
To get your API key, log in to Jaiku with your account and then go to www.jaiku.com/api/key
Copy that key to clipboard and paste it to the widget key field on the settings pane.

Thanks Janne. Got it working. Perhaps it might helpful to mention it as API key and where we can get it from in your next upgrade.I noticed Jaiku has updated the extended icons and wondering if your widget will soon be reflecting these. Thanks again.
Henry, thanks for notifying us about the image changes. We are using widget so extensively that updates on Jaiku site may go unnoticed.
We’ve now upgraded the widget to include all new icons and the icon can also be removed before posting. Happy jaikuing!
